Deadly Confrontation During Police Raid
According to Espreso.tv: In 2024, a man who had unlawfully abandoned his military unit opened fire during a police search and subsequently took his own life. The operation was carried out as part of a criminal investigation under Articles 190, Part 4, and 332, Part 3 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The search was conducted by regional police investigators, operatives from the Department of Strategic Investigations, and with tactical support from the KORD special unit. During the incident, two KORD special forces members sustained injuries. The suspect fired a gunshot to his own head while the search was underway.
Victims' Condition and Aftermath
The wounded officers were hospitalized, but their injuries are not life-threatening. Authorities report that the situation remains under control as investigations continue.
This incident highlights the severe challenges of desertion and violence in Ukraine, especially amid ongoing military conflicts.
