Freedom journalist wakes up in intensive care: how he survived after a drone strike.
Special correspondent of the Freedom channel sustained serious injuries
According to inkorr.com: In the intensive care unit of Dnipro, severely wounded special correspondent of the Freedom channel Oleksandr Kolychev regained consciousness. He is the only one who survived after the attack of a Russian drone on a filming crew in Kramatorsk on October 23, according to 'Glavcom'.
As a result of the enemy attack, correspondent Aliona Hramova and operator Yevhen Karmazin died while documenting the aftermath of the shelling of the city when they were hit by the Russian 'Lancet'. Kolychev shared details of this horrific incident.
“It happened very quickly, almost silently. In the last fraction of a second, I heard something, but I caught myself thinking that I had flown somewhere. The sound disappeared, and I can't hear or feel the left side of my body, my face, my ear, my hand,” he noted.
Aliona Hramova and Yevhen Karmazin were next to Kolychev at the time of the strike. He learned about the death of his colleagues, with whom he had worked for many years in Donbas, only in intensive care.
Medical professionals are working on recovery
“I could hardly see anything. Just spots. So I couldn't know what was happening with my team, where they were, how. I have never seen such a resonant team in a good sense. I have never worked so well with anyone in my life,” Oleksandr explained.
According to doctors, the former correspondent sustained serious injuries. The doctors managed to piece together broken bones in his legs so that Oleksandr could walk again. They are currently making efforts to save the journalist's vision. Ahead of him lies a long and difficult path to recovery, which is already awaited by his wife and children.
It should be reminded that after the drone attack in Kramatorsk, the correspondent and operator died, while Oleksandr Kolychev, special correspondent of the Freedom channel, continues to fight for his recovery in intensive care. Doctors are doing everything possible to save his life and health, but he still has a significant journey ahead for full recovery.
