Olympic Games: Paris Counted Revenues.
France Earned Billions of Euros from the 2024 Olympics
France successfully hosted the 2024 Olympics and earned significant money from it. The Paris region expects financial gains from 6.7 to 11.1 billion euros. Official figures will be published later. This was reported by Euronews.
The Olympic and Paralympic Games in Paris have concluded, and now France has to pay the International Olympic Committee over 8 billion euros for organizing the world's largest sporting event.
If the cost remains the same, Paris held the cheapest Summer Games in recent decades. Previously, the Tokyo Olympics in 2020 cost more than 12 billion euros. This was made possible by using existing sports facilities instead of building new ones.
Alexandra Dublanche, head of Choose Paris Region, noted: "A positive moment is that during the Olympic and Paralympic Games, we had 500,000 more tourists than last summer. This has a certain economic impact. But we are still waiting for final results that will demonstrate the economic benefits of hosting such events."
The Bank of France confirmed its forecast for the third quarter, noting economic activity growth of approximately 0.4%. One of the factors is the successful organization of the Olympics.
In Paris and other cities, French law enforcement prevented terrorist attacks during the Olympic and Paralympic Games. The attackers, among other things, planned to target "Israeli institutions or representatives of Israel in Paris."
