Apple is developing a new Edge Lite feature for macOS Tahoe 26.2

According to Korrespondent.net: Apple has announced a new Edge Lite feature that will appear in macOS Tahoe 26.2. Currently, this version of the operating system is in beta testing. As reported by 9to5mac, the new technology will be able to simulate the effect of a ring light directly on the MacBook screen, making the user's face more visible during video calls.

Edge Lite creates a virtual illumination of the edge of the display, improving the lighting of the face during the call. Thanks to a system that tracks head movements, the user remains in focus, and the brightness of the lighting automatically adjusts to the external lighting conditions.

This feature is built into the macOS video conferencing settings and is compatible with third-party applications such as Zoom. To use Edge Lite, a computer with an Apple Silicon chip is required, and the automatic studio lighting is available only on 2024 models and newer.

If Apple sticks to its usual update schedule, the final version of macOS Tahoe 26.2 may be available to users as early as December this year.

It was previously reported that Apple accidentally leaked the code for the new App Store.
