Opel has updated the Astra: what has changed in the design and equipment of the model

According to Korrespondent.net: Opel has introduced the updated version of the Astra, striving to maintain consumer interest amid the expansion of its crossover lineup and increasing competition. The updated models include both a hatchback and the Sports Tourer estate.

Design and Comfort

Design changes focus on the front of the car: the new signature Opel Vizor panel is illuminated by wide LED elements, and along with the illuminated logo, it creates a new visual concept known as Opel Compass. The updated front bumper with glossy black accents makes the car more expressive. The new 17- and 18-inch wheels also give the model a fresh look. The Sports Tourer estate has received similar styling updates.

Interior and Technologies

The interior retains its core architecture but has become even more comfortable: the ergonomic Intelli-Seats, which were previously available only in top trims, are now standard. The seats are made from recycled materials and can be equipped with heating, massage functionality, electro-pneumatic lumbar support, and memory positions. Opel also emphasizes that the multimedia interface with two 10-inch displays has become 'clearer and more intuitive'.

Engines and Specifications

Although the manufacturer has not yet announced details about the engines, they are expected to resemble those of the updated Peugeot 308. The engine lineup will likely include a 1.5 diesel engine with 130 hp, a 1.2-liter turbocharged gasoline engine with mild hybrid technology producing 145 hp, a 1.6 hybrid engine with 195 hp, and an electric version with 156 hp. The electric Astra will feature a new 58 kWh battery, which will extend the range by 34 km — now the total range will be up to 454 km on the WLTP cycle. Additionally, the model supports V2L functionality, allowing external devices to be powered.

Premiere and Sales

The premiere of the updated Astra will take place on January 9 at the Brussels Motor Show. Sales in Europe will begin shortly after, with prices from Opel announced closer to the launch.

The update of the Astra model indicates Opel's intentions to implement new technologies and improve comfort as competition in the automotive world increases. During the premiere, the company will present not only the new design but also functionality that meets modern driver requirements. Anticipation surrounding the new model is already increasing consumer interest.
