OpenAI presents GPT-5 today: what will change for users
OpenAI will conduct a live stream today, August 7, at 20:00 Kyiv time, where it is likely to officially showcase GPT-5 for the first time. This is hinted at by a stylized number '5' in the event title and new model icons spotted in the company's API.

The company announced this on its X page.

What to expect from GPT-5

OpenAI is preparing three variations - GPT-5, GPT-5-mini, and GPT-5-nano. The most compact nano version will work only through the API and is aimed at quick and inexpensive responses. The basic GPT-5 will have several modes with different 'depths of thought': the longest reasoning chains will only be available to Plus and Pro subscription users.

The main idea of the new model is 'universality': it will autonomously determine when to provide an instant result and when to proceed to an in-depth logical analysis. An option to 'think longer' will still remain for enthusiasts.

An important update will also touch on accuracy. During reinforcement training, OpenAI applied the Universal Verifier module - an auxiliary AI that checks GPT-5's responses and sends questionable ones for revision. Thanks to this, developers promise a significant reduction in the number of hallucinations not only in programming or mathematics tasks but also in creative texts and business scenarios.

Recall that OpenAI launched the 'learning mode' in ChatGPT - a new tool that helps solve tasks step by step. The feature is already available to Free, Plus, Pro, and Team users and will soon appear in ChatGPT Edu.

We also wrote that ChatGPT processes over 2.5 billion requests daily, of which 330 million are from the USA. Over a year, this translates into nearly a trillion queries to artificial intelligence.

OpenAI is preparing to stream a presentation where the new model GPT-5 will likely be showcased. The new version of artificial intelligence promises greater 'universality' and improved accuracy due to the application of the auxiliary module Universal Verifier. The model will be available in different variations, including GPT-5-nano for quick responses via API. It is also worth mentioning the new 'learning mode' function in ChatGPT, which will be useful for solving tasks step-by-step on the path to artificial intelligence.
