Default Fees Charged by Oschadbank

According to Novyny.live: Oschadbank, one of Ukraine's largest state-owned banks, imposes fees on inactive accounts, even if customers are not using their cards. A recent report from a bank client highlights issues with money being deducted without her knowledge. Specifically, the woman lost 500 hryvnias due to a fee for an inactive account.

What Fees Does Oschadbank Charge?

The bank has two types of fees: one for servicing an active account and another for servicing an inactive account. This means that even if a customer does not use their card, they may still be obligated to pay a maintenance fee. Customers facing these situations express frustration, arguing that a lack of activity on their part should not be grounds for such charges.

To close an account at Oschadbank, a client must personally visit a bank branch. It is not possible to close an account remotely, which creates additional inconvenience. Full automatic card cancellation is only possible after three years of non-use. Furthermore, starting in 2026, the limit of funds on seized accounts cannot exceed two minimum monthly salaries.

A bank client, commenting on her situation, noted: 'I tried to call the hotline, and I was transferred from one manager to another.'

This illustrates the difficulties consumers face when trying to resolve issues related to fee collection.

Thus, the situation with fees for inactive accounts at Oschadbank requires attention, as it causes concern among clients who cannot always quickly get help with their issues.

This case underscores the importance of transparency and communication between banks and their customers. Given consumer dissatisfaction, Oschadbank may need to consider revising its fee policies and improving customer service to prevent similar incidents in the future. In light of changing legislation, the bank may also be required to adapt its practices to new requirements, which could impact its customer base and market reputation.
