Pensions for Chernobyl victims are increasing: new payment amounts from 2025.
According to inkorr.com: The Pension Fund of Ukraine has improved the pension provisions for liquidators of the Chernobyl disaster and residents of contaminated areas. Now they can receive state and additional pensions on more favorable terms.
'Persons who worked or lived in radioactive contaminated areas are entitled to a retirement pension with a reduction of the retirement age from one to 13 years', the Pension Fund reported.
New pension amounts for people with disabilities
From March 1, 2025, new minimum pension amounts are established for persons with disabilities related to the Chernobyl disaster:
- Group I disability - 8,839.03 UAH
- Group II disability - 7,071.36 UAH
- Group III disability and children with disabilities - 5,450.85 UAH
Increased pension payments for liquidators
Liquidators of the Chernobyl disaster will also receive increased minimum pension payments:
- Group I disability - 14,308.46 UAH
- Group II disability - 11,446.77 UAH
- Group III disability - 8,585.08 UAH
In addition to pensions, Chernobyl victims may utilize social benefits such as compensation for housing and communal services and medications by prescription.
Thus, changes in pension provisions for those affected by the Chernobyl disaster are aimed at improving the financial situation of liquidators and persons with disabilities. This is an important step in recognizing their contribution and support, which will ensure a decent standard of living for those most affected by the consequences of this tragedy.
