The pension reform will start soon: what the Ministry of Social Policy prepares for Ukrainians.
The Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine held the Global Digital Social Forum with the participation of foreign guests, where it presented a number of new initiatives and announced the start date of the pension reform. Pension issues expert, journalist Serhiy Korobkin commented on the main topics of the forum and shared his opinion on the effectiveness of the event.
According to Korobkin, the Ministry of Social Policy announced the launch of the pension reform, presented a new web portal for social services, and announced the implementation of the "ePotential" program. "It's not fair to state that the ministry does nothing at all. It does quite a lot. But the best thing they really know how to do is advertise themselves. Even if there are no real achievements," the expert noted.
Korobkin expressed skepticism: "The name is powerful, bright, life-affirming, as our government likes. But it's quite hard to feel this potential. Because it's something very abstract like that."
The most resonant topic was the start date of the pension reform - July 1, 2025. However, Korobkin noted: "Even if by some miracle the accumulative system is introduced, and it starts working in an even more miraculous way, it will give a good result only in 20-30 years. And only then will it be about 60% of the salary."
The expert also expressed doubts about funding the reform: "Where will they find money for both reforms? The point-based and the accumulative system. A lot of money is needed for this. There is nothing about this in the budget project."
In conclusion, Korobkin emphasized that against the background of the critical demographic and economic situation, the ministry's statements sound too optimistic: "They say that no one will be left without attention, that everyone will be provided with social support to everyone who needs it. Well, if it really comes to real support, then it sounds fantastic, doesn't it?"
