Pensioners may lose thousands of hryvnias: 11 benefits they need to know about.
According to inkorr.com: Ukrainian pensioners risk losing significant sums of money and benefits due to insufficient knowledge of their rights. They should thoroughly study the options for receiving financial assistance for treatment, compensation for utility services, and pension recalculation.
The lawyer emphasizes the importance of timely application submissions
Mykhailo Vulah stressed that pensioners must apply on time to receive benefits. He named 11 main opportunities that could be lost this year, including assistance for treatment, pension recalculation, and compensation for utility services.
'We have seen thousands of elderly people losing thousands of hryvnias every month because they were unaware of their options'
One of the important opportunities is assistance for surgeries and medications – up to 200,000 hryvnias for surgery and up to 3,000 hryvnias monthly. It is also essential to check how pensions are calculated to avoid underpayments or errors in calculations.
It is recommended to apply for compensation for utility services, which can cover up to 100% of expenses, helping to avoid significant financial losses.
Housing subsidies and digitization of employment records
Starting October 1, the Pension Fund of Ukraine will begin recalculating housing subsidies for the heating season of 2025-2026. The digitization of employment records is also crucial for confirming tenure before 2004. These steps aim to improve social guarantees for pensioners and prevent financial losses due to a lack of knowledge of the rules.
Pensioners in Ukraine must be attentive and study their rights to avoid losing opportunities to receive necessary benefits and assistance from the state. Special attention should be paid to timely application submissions and monitoring pension accruals to prevent financial losses and obtain the needed support.
