Pentagon said whether the US will have time to transfer unused aid to Ukraine.
The US Department of Defense is working on continuing funding for military support to Ukraine
The US Department of Defense is collaborating with Congress to ensure the continuation of funds allocation to support Ukraine after the end of the fiscal year, Deputy Press Secretary of the Pentagon Sabrina Singh said. According to her, the US government intends to use every dollar and cent that has been allocated to Ukraine. Currently, there are $5.8 billion unused funds available.
However, the US Department of Defense is currently unable to provide military aid as it lacks the reserves to restore its own combat readiness. For a long time, the Pentagon could not replenish its reserves until Congress approved a large-scale aid package to Ukraine.
Singh also noted that there is an agreement in Congress regarding support for Ukraine. The fiscal year in the US ends on September 30, and to use the unused funds after this period, a resolution from Congress or a notification from the US Secretary of State is required.
