The Ukrainian society condemned the negotiations of the delegations of Russia and the USA regarding Ukraine, which took place in Saudi Arabia. According to the Institute of Mass Information, any agreements made without the presence of Ukraine contradict the principles of international law and the self-determination of peoples. Such an approach poses threats to security and creates risks for the states that support them.

This situation reminds of the fatal mistake of the Munich Agreement of 1938, which led to the outbreak of war. Russia, waging war against Ukraine, violates international law and commits war crimes as well as crimes against humanity and possibly genocide.

Holding negotiations with a country whose leadership is suspected of international crimes undermines the system of international legal order. A ceasefire without resolving issues of accountability and security guarantees is dangerous. Regulating the conflict without involving international justice will entrench impunity and lead to further crimes in the future.

Interference in Ukraine's internal affairs and conducting elections under conditions of 'peaceful settlement' is also unacceptable. Elections in wartime threaten the lives of voters and the legitimacy of power. States and international organizations must cease negotiations without the presence of Ukraine and take steps against those guilty of international crimes, including the arrest of Vladimir Putin. Ukraine also needs support and increased sanctions against Russia.

Ukraine does not recognize any agreements made without its participation. President Zelensky emphasizes that Ukraine will never submit to Russia's ultimatums. Furthermore, Russia and the USA agreed to restore embassies in Moscow and Washington with the aim of improving cooperation opportunities.
