According to UATV: On January 23-24, 2023, a trilateral meeting was held in Abu Dhabi involving representatives from Ukraine, the United States, and Russia. Both the Ukrainian and American sides are keeping the European Union informed about the progress of these discussions. The European Commission's spokesperson, Paula Pinho, confirmed the meeting's occurrence during a briefing in Brussels on January 26, 2023.

During the briefing, Pinho noted that the EU maintains contact with the Ukrainian and American delegations present at the meeting to be briefed on the discussions both before and after they occur. Also on January 26, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy received a report from the Ukrainian delegation following the Abu Dhabi talks.
