Border crossing by car: new rules will make Ukrainians wait.
Changes regarding crossing the border in personal vehicles
Starting from January 1, 2025, new rules will be introduced in Ukraine concerning the crossing of the border in personal vehicles. The new condition from the Motor Insurance Bureau of Ukraine pertains to the 'Green Card' insurance policy.
According to the updated rules, the 'Green Card' insurance policy will come into force only 24 hours after it is issued. Therefore, drivers from Ukraine should plan to obtain the insurance document at least 1 day before the planned border crossing.
One of the main innovations is the mandatory registration of the policy in the Unified Centralized Database of the MTIBU. If the information about the insurance policy is not entered into this database, the document will be considered invalid, which may lead to a refusal to cross the state border.
Experts recommend car owners to prepare in advance for trips abroad and consider the new time constraints when planning their travels. This will help avoid unnecessary delays at border checkpoints and ensure a smooth exit from Ukraine.
In addition, strict road rules in Poland have been reported.
