Checks will start on January 1: who among Ukrainians faces fines of 17 thousand hryvnias.
Starting from January 1, 2025, Ukrainians using payment terminals may face fines of up to 17 thousand hryvnias, reports the portal Ligazakon.net. The changes apply to entrepreneurs operating in small settlements with fewer than 5,000 residents. They must ensure the possibility of cashless payment for their customers starting next year. This applies to both simple purchases in stores and online commerce.
According to the requirements, sellers must provide various methods of cashless payment, including electronic payment methods, payment applications, and payment devices. However, these requirements do not apply to individual entrepreneurs who pay a single tax of group I, as well as traders who use vending machines, conduct street trading, or sell home-grown/raised products.
Exceptions also include traders operating in combat zones or temporarily occupied territories. After the liberation of such territories or the end of hostilities, entrepreneurs will have three months to comply with these rules.
The tax service will impose fines on those who do not provide the possibility of cashless payments to their customers. The amounts of the fines are as follows: for the first violation - from 1,700 to 3,400 hryvnias, for repeated violations within a year - from 8,500 to 17,000 hryvnias. These requirements are based on government resolution No. 894 of July 29, 2022, 'On establishing deadlines by which traders must provide the opportunity to make cashless payments for sold goods and services provided.'
The tax service will pay special attention to traders who do not provide cashless payment options to customers in small settlements.
