South Korea is ready to change its stance on providing weapons to Ukraine due to the actions of North Korea.

This possibility was announced by the country's president, Yoon Suk Yeol, during a joint press conference with Polish President Andrzej Duda in Seoul.

According to Yonhap News Agency, although South Korea currently adheres to the principle of banning direct supply of lethal weapons, the situation may change due to the military activity of North Korea in Ukraine.

"If North Korea sends special forces to the war in Ukraine, we will step by step provide Ukraine with support and consider taking necessary measures for the security of the Korean Peninsula," Yoon Suk Yeol emphasized.

Regarding North Korea's involvement in the war against Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelensky on October 13 reported on "strengthening the alliance" between Russia and North Korea, and already the next day announced the actual involvement of North Korea in the war.

On October 14, Vladimir Putin submitted to the State Duma a draft ratification of the treaty on "comprehensive strategic partnership" between the Russian Federation and North Korea, signed on June 19, 2024.

According to the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, about 11 thousand North Korean soldiers are preparing to participate in combat operations in Ukraine. The National Intelligence Service of South Korea confirms the dispatch of 1,500 North Korean special forces to Russia and plans to send a second group, totaling up to 12 thousand military personnel.

US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin has not yet confirmed the deployment of North Korean troops. North Korea denies these reports as "groundless rumors," and its representative at the UN described relations with Moscow as "legitimate and based on cooperation".

Let us remind you that the first North Korean units have arrived in Kursk region.
