Chaos for Charles Leclerc after the Azerbaijan Grand Prix

According to The Sun: Charles Leclerc's weekend turned even worse when his plane hit a storm and had to make an emergency landing while returning home from the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.

The 27-year-old driver had a tough weekend at Formula 1 in Baku: first, he crashed his car during qualifying, and then he couldn't finish higher than ninth place due to a botched pit stop along with his teammate Lewis Hamilton.

This weekend was Leclerc's worst on a street circuit, barring one incident in 2022 due to an engine issue.

Strange circumstances of returning home

However, Leclerc's unlucky weekend didn't end at the track. On social media, he shared that along with Williams driver Carlos Sainz, they had to seek an alternative way home after the storm.

Leclerc noted:

“Yes, after a tough weekend in Baku, I thought it couldn’t get worse, but…”

He pointed to Sainz, who was driving, and asked:

“Where are we, Carlos?”

Sainz replied:

“In the middle of Italy.”

Leclerc asked why, to which Sainz explained:

“We were diverted due to the storm, couldn’t land in Nice, so we landed here, in Italy. We rented a van, and now we’re heading to Monaco.”
Sainz jokingly said: “A two-hour drive, but we’ll make it in an hour and a half!”

The race in Baku, won by dominant Max Verstappen after serious mistakes by the McLaren championship leaders, concluded the European season of Formula 1.

Now motorsport moves on to the challenging street race at the Singapore Grand Prix on October 5 and then heads to the USA for the American tour.

In the end, Charles Leclerc’s unfortunate return confirms how unpredictable the world of motorsport can be. Despite the tough moments on the track, the driver remains an optimist, hoping for better results in future races. The Singapore Grand Prix could be a new opportunity for Leclerc to showcase his true potential.
