Captured Russian soldier revealed why he killed a civilian man.
Ukrainian paratroopers in Kursk managed to capture three soldiers of the Russian army, who behaved cruelly with captured Ukrainian soldiers. According to the captives, their commanders threaten to 'zero' them for refusing to carry out orders and for their cruelty towards Ukrainians.
One of the captives said that he lived in a village in the Moscow region and had large debts. He decided to join the Russian army to earn money by killing Ukrainians. In his unit, they were carrying out assignments in Kursk. When a peaceful resident approached their house, who was actually a scout, he was ordered to 'take him out'. After that, the commander said there was another person to be killed and threatened punishment when the captive refused.
“On the second or third day, the commander contacted us and said that a peaceful resident was approaching the house. But this is actually a scout. If he sees us, he will report, and the house will be shelled. So the man must be 'taken out'. And if we don't do it - we will be 'zeroed',”
According to the captive, they were ordered not to surrender, but to kill themselves or blow themselves up with a grenade. He also believed that he was facing torture in captivity, but the paratroopers gave him a last bottle of water.
Previously, other soldiers spoke about how Russian security forces torture Ukrainian soldiers in captivity. They were beaten and forced to endure psychological pressure.
