The Ministry of Education of Poland is considering new restrictions on the admission of foreign students to universities. These changes may significantly impact the opportunities to obtain education for foreigners in the country.

This is reported by the portal inpoland.net.pl.

One of the key proposals is to introduce a limit on the number of foreign students in higher education institutions. It is planned that individual universities will be able to admit up to 50% of foreign students from the total number of students. Such a restriction may reduce opportunities for international education and cultural exchange.

In addition, it is proposed to limit the education of foreigners to only academic universities. This means that vocational schools (PTU) will no longer be able to accept students from abroad, except for exchange program participants, such as Erasmus. This decision may negatively affect those who seek to obtain practical education or technical skills in Poland.

Ministry representatives emphasize that tightening control over the issuance of student visas is a necessary step to prevent possible abuses in the future. It is expected that the new rules will contribute to creating a more transparent system for admitting foreign students, as well as improving the quality of education in Poland. According to government representatives, this will allow focusing on attracting truly motivated and qualified students from abroad.

However, the proposed changes have already raised concerns in the academic community and among potential students. Some universities may lose a significant portion of their income from teaching foreigners, and many young people who seek to obtain education in Poland may face limited opportunities.

Earlier it became known where Ukrainian students can apply to get scholarships in the Czech Republic.
