Poland cancels two school subjects: what awaits students from 2025.
Changes in Polish School Education
According to inkorr.com: The school reform in Poland leads to significant changes in the education system. Starting from the 2025/2026 academic year, two subjects will be canceled, replaced by new ones. Students will transition from 'history and modernity' and 'education for family life' to civic education and health education.
Civic education is intended to prepare students for active participation in public life, while the 'health education' subject will cover various aspects of physical and mental well-being. The physical education program will also be modernized, which will include annual physical fitness assessments, an increased number of outdoor classes, and a reduction in hours of religious education. There will also be new winter holiday dates and improvements in working conditions for teachers.
Within the framework of labor relations, private schools will be given more freedom in hiring teaching staff, allowing specialists to work up to nine hours a week. The temporary measures related to the influx of Ukrainian refugee children will also come to an end, and teachers who receive compensatory payments will no longer be able to work under preferential conditions, performing the duties of teacher assistants or teaching Polish to Ukrainian students.
This reform will be an important step towards updating Poland's educational system, which aims to adequately respond to the challenges of modernity. The new subjects and approaches focused on health and civic responsibility can form a solid foundation for building an active and conscious society in the future.
