At the age of 63, Taras Protsiv'yat - a Ukrainian activist, scientist, and member of the second convocation of parliament - passed away. This was reported by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.

Taras Protsiv'yat was a multifaceted individual and a true patriot. He was a member of the Committee on Combating Organized Crime and Corruption, a candidate of historical sciences, a member of the presidium of the Main Directorate of the Congress of Ukrainian Nationalists, and the deputy head of the Kyiv City Organization of the Vasyl Stus Society "Memorial", the statement said.

Taras Protsiv'yat passed away after a prolonged illness. This was written on his FB page by Ukrainian politician and public figure Mykhailo Ratushny.

Ratushny noted that Taras Protsiv'yat was at the forefront of the process of returning the OUN (Banderites) to Ukraine from the diaspora, was among the founding members of the Congress of Ukrainian Nationalists, a member of the second convocation of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, an activist of the Leo Society, Memorial, and participated in rescuing the family of Dzhokhar Dudayev from the fire-engulfed Ichkeria.

What is Known About Taras Protsiv'yat

Taras Protsiv'yat was born on August 12, 1962, in Lviv to the family of geologist engineer Ivan Mykhailovych and singer, instructor of the Lviv Conservatory, Mariya Ivanivna Protsiv'yat.

He graduated from the Faculty of Architecture of the Lviv Polytechnic Institute and had a candidate's dissertation on the topic: "Development of Rural Housing in the Ukrainian Carpathians".

In 1989-1994, Protsiv'yat worked as a research fellow in the ethnography department of the Institute of Folklore Studies of the NAS of Ukraine and was a scientific advisor to the newspaper "Shlyakh Peremohy".

He was also a member of the Congress of Ukrainian Nationalists and worked in the Main Directorate of the Congress of Ukrainian Nationalists. Taras Protsiv'yat was a member of the second convocation of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine from 1994 to 1998 and was a member of the Committee on Combating Organized Crime and Corruption.

He was also the deputy head of the Kyiv City Organization of the Vasyl Stus Society "Memorial" and participated in the work of the Union of Architects of Ukraine and the Shevchenko Scientific Society.

Taras Protsiv'yat is the author of many scientific and popular science works.
