At the age of 80, the outstanding Ukrainian artist and representative of nonconformist art, Volodymyr Naumets, has died. This was reported by the Odesa Museum of Contemporary Art.
"Volodymyr Naumets was a true visionary whose creativity expanded the boundaries of what is possible in art and significantly influenced the development of contemporary art. His contribution to the development of Ukrainian and world art is invaluable. A major participant in Odesa's unofficial nonconformist art, he was the first Odesa conceptualist," the statement said.It is noted that Naumets was one of the first in Ukraine to boldly experiment with new media, integrating light figures from neon tubes into his installations, creating unique visual and conceptual works.
The Artist's Legacy
Volodymyr Naumets was born in 1945 in Lviv and received his artistic education at the Odesa State Art School and the Moscow Higher Art and Industrial School. In 1989, he emigrated to Germany. The artist's works are preserved in various museums' collections in Europe and the United States. It should be noted that recently, the outstanding artist of Ukraine, Tetyana Sheliga, also passed away. Ukrainian art has lost one of its bright and influential representatives - the first Odesa conceptualist, Volodymyr Naumets, whose creativity opened up new possibilities in contemporary art. His contribution to the development of unofficial art and experiments with new media will forever remain in the history of Ukrainian culture.Read also
