State Losses of 69 Million UAH After Official Orchestrates Illegal Gabbro Mining.
Illegal Gabbro Extraction
According to Espreso.tv: An official organized large-scale gabbro mining in violation of permit regulations, causing substantial financial harm to a state-owned enterprise. Between 2021 and 2022, the illegal extraction of this rock—valued at over 47 million hryvnias—took place. As a result of the official's actions, the state enterprise suffered losses of approximately 22 million hryvnias. Gabbro is a dark-colored igneous rock composed mainly of plagioclase and pyroxene, widely used in construction, road infrastructure, and the production of facing materials and monuments.
The total damage inflicted on the enterprise exceeds 69 million hryvnias. This case highlights ongoing challenges in Ukraine's natural resource sector, where regulatory enforcement remains a critical issue.
Pre-Trial Investigation
A pre-trial investigation is currently underway to establish all circumstances of the case and bring those responsible to justice. The situation is concerning, as violations of permit documentation in this field can have serious consequences not only for the specific enterprise but also for the broader economy.
The costs linked to the illegal mining could undermine the financial stability of the state enterprise, potentially leading to a loss of both resources and trust from partners and investors. During the investigation, it is crucial to determine whether this is an isolated incident or part of a broader pattern enabling such violations to persist. The results of the probe may serve as a significant warning to other enterprises regarding compliance with mineral extraction laws.
