KyivteleService officials notified of suspicion — reason.
Officials of the Specialized Communal Enterprise 'KyivteleService' have been notified of suspicion of official negligence. It turned out that during the procurement of network equipment for the Internet, she 'overpaid' by more than 50 million hryvnias. It's unpleasant how much money was lost due to negligence!
The Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office revealed this scandalous case on July 16, even despite the official's attempts to justify herself.
Details of the case
According to the investigation by law enforcement, in 2023 'KyivteleService' and a private company signed a contract for the supply and setup of equipment for the amount of 172 million hryvnias. However, the head of the tender committee failed to fulfill her duties and did not monitor the market price of the goods, which led to overpayment.
'Thus, the supplier was paid more than 50 million hryvnias above the market value of this equipment. As a result, the capital's budget suffered losses of this amount'
Consequently, the officials received suspicion of official negligence, which means that officials did not perform their duties properly, threatening state interests. An investigation is currently ongoing.
Law to strengthen punishment for corruption
In particular, recently the law was signed by Volodymyr Zelenskyi, aimed at strengthening punishment for corruption. This will help make the anti-corruption system more effective. A similar example is suspicions of abuses in a medical institution in the Kyiv region. Five employees have been charged with damages amounting to over 7 million hryvnias.
In this scandalous case of overpayment for equipment, it is evident how important it is to adhere to laws and ethics in governing structures; otherwise, state funds can leak like water.
