Large-Scale Russian Attack on Ukraine

According to UATV: Over the course of June 27 and 28, Russia launched a major offensive against Ukraine, employing a combination of missiles and drones. The assault began in the evening on June 27 and persisted through the night. The weaponry used in this aggression included:

  • two anti-ship missiles of the 'Zircon' or 'Oniks' type
  • six ballistic missiles from the 'Iskander-M' or S-400 systems
  • 142 attack drones

Ukrainian air defense forces successfully shot down one anti-ship missile, all six ballistic missiles, and 125 drones, including models such as 'Shahed', 'Gerbera', and 'Italmas'. Despite these defensive successes, a missile strike and 14 attack drones hit 11 different locations, with debris falling on an additional 13 sites.

Consequences of the Attack

In the Zaporizhzhia region, six people were injured as a result of the assault, among them a 13-year-old girl. The attack caused damage to 40 residential buildings, along with a school, a gas station, and several cars. This incident underscores the precarious security situation in the area and the ongoing impact of military hostilities.

This latest assault is part of Russia's broader, more than year-long campaign against Ukraine. Continuous missile strikes and drone attacks pose severe risks to civilians and infrastructure, further destabilizing the region. These events highlight the urgent need for enhanced air defense systems and sustained international support for Ukraine amid the ongoing conflict.
