Honda Prelude Returns: What the New 2026 Coupe Offers

According to Korrespondent.net: The Honda Prelude 2026 model year debuted at global auto shows. The manufacturer positions this novelty as a grand tourer – a car perfect for long journeys, which remains comfortable in everyday use.

Technical Specifications and Interior

The dimensions of the new coupe are: length - 4532 mm, width - 1880 mm, height - 1356 mm, and wheelbase - 2606 mm. The interior features many elements similar to the Civic but has new asymmetrical seats providing different support for the driver and passenger. The rear is configured in a 2+2 layout, and the trunk capacity is 428 liters. Standard equipment includes a 10.2-inch digital instrument panel, a 9-inch multimedia screen, a Bose audio system, and a Honda Sensing safety package.

Hybrid Setup and Dynamics

The new Prelude is built on the Civic Hybrid platform and is equipped with a similar hybrid powertrain. It features a 2.0-liter atmospheric gasoline engine with an output of 141 hp, combined with an electric motor that generates 181 hp. The total output is 200 hp and 315 Nm of torque. The car lacks a traditional transmission: the electric motor directly drives the front wheels, while the Linear Shift Control system simulates shifting. There is also an S+ Shift mode with paddle shifters that allows for 'rev-matching' during deceleration and maintains engine speed for sporty sensations.

Technical Solutions and Sales Launch

Despite modest dynamics, the Prelude borrowed several technical solutions from the Civic Type R. The car received a front suspension with double struts, adaptive dampers with softer settings, as well as a braking system with 13.8-inch diameter discs and four-piston calipers up front. To enhance handling, the Honda Agile Handling Assist system has been implemented.

Sales of the Honda Prelude in Japan will start in the fall of 2025, with a starting price of $41,700.

Note that previously Honda unveiled the compact electric car N-ONE e.

A joint electric vehicle from Honda and Sony has entered production.
