A service has begun at the Holy Dormition Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra in honor of the victims of the Holodomor in Ukraine. The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and the First Lady Olena Zelenska took part in the prayer.

The head of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, Metropolitan Epiphanius, led the Divine Liturgy in the church.

Let us remind you that every year, the fourth Saturday of November in Ukraine is commemorated as the Day of Remembrance for the victims of the Holodomors of 1932-1933, as well as the mass artificial famines of 1921-1923 and 1946-1947. In 2024, this day falls on November 23.

This year, traditional memorial events will begin on November 23 at 4:00 PM with a moment of silence, during which Ukrainians will bow their heads in memory of the deceased. There will also be a nationwide action 'Light a Candle', during which everyone willing will place a lit candle on their windowsill. Services for the deceased will be held in churches, and memorial events will take place near the monuments to the victims of the Holodomor.

By the way, with the arrival of the third president of Ukraine Viktor Yushchenko to Bankova, honoring the victims of the Holodomor, which is observed this year on November 23, was included in the programs for foreign delegations. This was shared in the memoirs published on 'Glavkom' by the former head of the protocol service, Georgiy Cherniavsky.
