A true wave of renamings has unfolded in the Dalnytsia community in the Odesa region. Activists accuse the local leadership of waiting for the Russians.
Renaming in Odesa region
The leadership of the Dalnytsia community has decided to change the name of the street dedicated to the memory of fallen heroes of the Russo-Ukrainian war, Maksym Breslavskyi and Dmytro Melnyk. They now have the names 'Buzkova' and 'Peremohy'. In addition, several other streets have been renamed in honor of historical figures who fought for Ukraine's independence.

Recently, a street in Odesa was named after the prominent artist Borys Eduardas, while historian Oleksandr Muzychenko is fighting for the removal of the Duke monument from the city.
The Dalnytsia community in the Odesa region has seen street renamings that have led to disputes between activists and community leadership. The actions of the latter have caused accusations of waiting for the Russians. Such decisions and actions continue to make the topic of identity and memory in Ukraine loud.
