Border guard detained for a bribe of $9000: where he was transporting military personnel.

According to inkorr.com: The State Bureau of Investigations, together with the State Border Guard Service, thwarted an attempt to illegally transport military personnel across the border to Moldova for money. The organizer of this scheme was a border guard who decided to engage in corrupt activities after a year of service.

“The official, after a year of service in border protection, decided to turn this into a business. He was well aware of his colleagues' duty schedules, the locations of border patrols, and the peculiarities of the terrain. Thus, the suspect found two individuals willing to illegally cross the border for money. For 9,000 US dollars, he promised to transport conscripts in his own car to the Republic of Moldova outside of border crossing points,” the Bureau reported.

On September 24, 2025, law enforcement officers detained the official while he was receiving money from participants in the illegal border crossing. He was served with a notice of suspicion, and the possibility of choosing a preventive measure and suspension from office is being considered.

According to the legal consequences, such actions are punishable by up to 9 years in prison with asset confiscation, and the investigation continues to uncover possible accomplices.
