The Metropolitan Police reported yesterday that they have submitted an official request to the German authorities for questioning convicted rapist and pedophile Christian Brueckner.

The Metropolitan Police want to question convicted rapist Christian Brueckner Madeleine disappeared while on holiday in Praia da Luz, Portugal, in 2007

He is set to be released from prison on Wednesday.

Detectives working on the investigation into the disappearance of three-year-old Madeleine as part of Operation Grange cannot compel Brueckner, 48, to testify.

Furthermore, there is insufficient evidence to convince a German court to extradite him to the UK, where he could face trial.

Chief Inspector Mark Cranwell stated:

“We have requested to conduct an interview. The request has been declined by the suspect. We will continue to pursue all possible lines of inquiry.”
