The Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada for Human Rights, Dmytro Lubinets, shared his thoughts regarding the lowering of the conscription age in Ukraine. In an interview with 'Ukrainian Truth', he noted that involving 18-year-olds in conscription could have serious consequences for the country. Lubinets believes that the most effective group for conscription is middle-aged men.
'If we take these young guys, who have no families and children, we will automatically have no future for Ukraine. In my opinion, we have enough men aged 30 to 45,'- stated Dmytro Lubinets.
In addition, he reported that in December 2024, he received over 4,000 complaints about the actions of territorial recruitment centers during the conscription process. The most requests came from the Transcarpathian region and Kropyvnytskyi.
'There are cases where after my submissions, a separate meeting of the military medical commission was held, a full analysis was carried out, and it was established that a person who was previously recognized as 'completely healthy' is actually suffering from a disease. This person was called to the military, but serves in a rear region because they found a suitable position,'- added Lubinets.
He also noted that there are cases where complaints about the territorial recruitment centers are not confirmed.
The Commissioner also commented on the conscription process, which should be carried out on legal grounds. He emphasized that people react negatively to forced conscription and the uneven distribution of recruited citizens.
