Psychiatrist named the risk groups: who suffers from depression most often.
Depression is often perceived as whims or just a bad mood, but it is a serious illness with its consequences. Experts believe that some people are more prone to depression than others and are in what is called the risk zone.
Psychiatrist Boris Mykhailov shared interesting information in an interview for RBC-Ukraine.
Who is most prone to depression
It is noted that among those who most often encounter depression are elderly people due to several reasons, such as changes in social life, losses of loved ones, deterioration of physical health, and aging processes.
The risk of depression also increases in people who have experienced catastrophic-level events or have limited support from their immediate social circles, leading to social isolation. Furthermore, depression is often observed in individuals who have suffered traumatic brain injuries or severe infectious diseases, such as COVID-19.
It is important for each of us to realize that depression is a serious illness that can affect any of us, especially with the presence of risk factors. Therefore, it is essential to be attentive to ourselves and those around us to prevent the development of this condition.Read also
