Putin invented a replacement for Eurovision.
The President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, signed a decree stating that an international music competition 'Intervision' will be held in 2025. This information is noted on the official website of legal acts.
After Russia was excluded from 'Eurovision' in 2022 due to the invasion of Ukraine, they decided to create their own song contest.
The decree states that the International Music Competition 'Intervision' will be held in 2025 in Moscow and the Moscow region with the aim of developing cultural and humanitarian cooperation.
The government was tasked with creating an organizing committee for the preparation and conduct of the competition, as well as developing an action plan for its organization. The head of the organizing committee was appointed Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko.
President Putin also instructed to create a supervisory board that will address the main tasks related to the conduct of the competition. The supervisory board must approve the concept and provisions for the competition.
The general director of the Russian television channel Konstantin Ernst noted that 'Intervision' will be a 'free platform' for all countries and will not have political restrictions. He hopes for the active participation of the BRICS countries (Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa).
Let us remind you that Russia was excluded from 'Eurovision' on February 25, 2022.
