President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky reacted to the statement of the head of the Kremlin, Vladimir Putin, about the use of a medium-range missile 'Oreshnik' on the territory of Ukraine. The head of state wrote about this on social media.

Today, Putin learned that he has already made the second step this year towards escalation and the expansion of this war. A new ballistic missile has been used. Putin struck our city Dnipro – one of the largest cities in Ukraine. This is an obvious and serious increase in the scale and brutality of this war, significant violations of the UN Charter by Russia. And I emphasize: this is already the second step that Russia has taken towards escalation this year. The first such step involved North Korea in the war against Ukraine – a contingent of at least 11 thousand soldiers.

Zelensky responded that Putin ignores the calls of countries around the world not to expand the war, spits on them, and started this war without any reason. He also noted that the use of a ballistic missile indicates that Russia has no intention of living in peace.

He lies when he says our response to his actions is a new step. We have every right to use such weapons in accordance with international law, and our right to self-defense is the same as that of any other nation. Putin continues the war and simply avoids responsibility to a world that truly seeks peace, ' Zelensky noted.

The president emphasized the need to stop Putin and force Russia to return to peace. He called for reaction, pressure on Russia, and to make it return to the real world.

If we do not respond sharply to Russia's actions, they see that they can continue. Putin must feel the consequences of his ambitions. Real peace is worth our actions. We must act, ' the head of Ukraine urged.

Recall that Putin stated that Russia struck Dnipro with the 'Oreshnik' missile. He claimed this was a response to US plans to deploy missiles in Europe and the Asia-Pacific region. According to Putin, this missile did not carry a nuclear warhead.

Earlier, it was reported that Russia attacked Dnipro with various missiles, including the intercontinental missile 'Rubizh'.

According to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Russia has accumulated more than 1.5 thousand missiles with a range of over 350 km.
