Ukraine strengthens responsibility for war crimes against children
The Ukrainian state is improving accountability for committing war crimes against children. According to the adopted bill, those who involve children in armed conflicts, deport them, or unlawfully transfer them will be criminally punished. The initiator of the law, Olena Kondratiuk, emphasized that this is one of the steps within the framework of the international initiative of the President of Ukraine #BringKidsBackUA.
According to the bill's initiator, Deputy Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada Olena Kondratiuk, 252 members of parliament voted in favor of Bill No. 12170, which amends the Criminal Code with provisions concerning war crimes against children.
This is an important step in protecting children's rights and preventing war crimes against the most defenseless population. The new legislation aims to improve the situation regarding children's rights in the context of armed conflicts.
The adoption of the bill is a significant step for Ukraine in the struggle for children's rights during military actions. It indicates an increased awareness and responsibility in protecting the youngest citizens of the country in times of conflict.Read also
