According to Novyny.live: A Russian strike damaged the Dormition Cathedral, located within the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra, on the night of June 15, 2023. This incident became a significant event, drawing attention to the preservation of Ukraine's cultural and spiritual heritage. The repair and restoration work that followed the attack lasted just over a week and was completed by June 23.
During the restoration efforts, the following resources were deployed:
- over 100 rescue workers from various units of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SESU);
- more than 25 pieces of specialized equipment.
Thanks to the coordinated efforts of the rescue teams, measures to stabilize the cathedral’s damaged roof were successfully carried out, marking a crucial step in preserving this historic landmark.
Commenting on the situation, Andriy Danyk stated: 'These were days of intense work, responsibility, and a fight to protect Ukraine’s priceless cultural and spiritual heritage.'
The completion of the restoration work at the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra thus stands as a symbol of the Ukrainian people’s resilience and commitment to their history, culture, and spirituality, even in the most challenging times.
