Russia employs terror against peaceful Ukrainians to force capitulation: expert's assessment.
According to FREEДOM:
Situation in Ukraine
Recently, as a result of a series of massive attacks on Kyiv, Zaporizhzhia, and other cities in Ukraine, it became clear that the war continues. Russian drones and missiles deliberately target residential buildings, critical infrastructure, and energy facilities. The speaker of the Ukrainian Volunteer Army, Serhiy Bratchuk, stated on the FREEДOM channel that Russia is employing terror against the civilian population, trying to force them to capitulate.
'First of all, the war continues. It will not end today or tomorrow. And the Russian Federation openly demonstrates that it has no intention of stopping combat actions. Secondly, it does not stop the terror against the civilian population, but rather attempts to intensify it. Moreover, we clearly understand, judging by the shelling, the tactics of carrying out these shellings, that the enemy is primarily attacking residential buildings, energy, and critical infrastructure because the autumn-winter period is beginning,' he said.
Russia's Terrorist Tactics
The expert noted that for Russia, it is important to strike rear areas and create difficult conditions for the civilian population, aiming to push people to revolt against the government and force them to capitulate.
'This tactic has not changed for several years of war, and the Russians are demonstrating it again. Moreover, all this is compounded by the communications that are occurring at the geopolitical level. The whole world clearly understands that Russia uses terror against the civilian population as a tool of coercion to capitulation,' Bratchuk emphasized.
Need for Allies' Support
Bratchuk also emphasized that Ukraine's support from international partners is extremely important.
'Of course, we would like more actions. It is clear that sanctions are being prepared, the 19th package is in the works. But the position of the United States should, in my opinion, be not only about talks of peace but also about forcing Putin himself to at least sit down at the negotiating table. If Putin shows up at the negotiating table, I think we can already consider it a victory for Ukraine because we understand that the Russian dictator has no intention of stopping this war,' the expert said.
It is important to continue fighting and seeking help from the international community, as the war in Ukraine is far from over. Russia continues to attack Ukrainian cities, including a recent strike on Dnipro, which has serious consequences for the country’s population.
