Every day at 9 a.m., Ukrainians honor the memory of all whose lives have been taken by the Russian-Ukrainian war. Today, let us remember Mykola Babichuk.

On January 20, 2025, the DNA test results confirmed the death of the warrior Mykola Babichuk. This was reported by the Hoshchanska village council. 

Mykola was born on May 20, 1987, in the village of Andrusiv in the family of Valeriy and Valentyna Babichuks. He grew up with his brother Oleksandr. After finishing Andrusiv School, he entered Sosnivsk Professional College, where he learned the profession of a carpenter.

Thanks to his skilled hands, he performed various tasks masterfully. In peaceful life, he worked as a builder, taking care of renovation work and creating comfort in people’s homes. In his spare Time, Mykola enjoyed fishing and loved animals.

With the onset of the full-scale Russian invasion, Mykola took up the defense of Ukraine against the occupier. He served as a machine gunner in the National Guard.

Mykola Babichuk always stayed close to his comrades, enjoying great respect among the servicemen. As a soldier, he clearly and responsibly carried out all orders from his commanders.

“He dreamed of a peaceful life but gave it up for all of us,” wrote in the Hoshchanska village council.

On January 24, 2024, in the area of Avdiivka during a combat clash, Mykola went missing in action. His relatives and close ones believed for a long time that he would return. But on January 20, 2025, the DNA test results confirmed the soldier's death.

Mykola Valeriyovych Babichuk was buried on January 23, 2025, at the cemetery of his native village Andrusiv. With respect to the hero, the National Anthem of Ukraine and a military salute rang out, marking the moment of farewell.

We remember those who fell at the hands of Russian invaders, light candles of remembrance, and bow our heads in mourning during the nationwide moment of silence, honoring the bright memory of the citizens of Ukraine who gave their lives for the freedom and independence of the state: all military personnel, civilians, and children, everyone who perished in the fight against the Russian occupiers and as a result of the enemy's military attack on Ukrainian cities and villages.
