Ukraine Intercepts 87 Drones in Major Russian Assault Involving Over 100 Projectiles.
January 25th Attack on Ukraine
According to Novyny.live: In the early hours of January 25th, Russian forces launched a large-scale assault against Ukraine, firing two 'Iskander-M'/S-300 ballistic missiles and 102 drones of various types from the Bryansk region. This attack underscores Russia's continued aggression and its willingness to strike from its own territory. Among the drones deployed, approximately 70 were 'Shahed' attack models.
Ukrainian air defenses successfully intercepted or neutralized 87 of the hostile drones. However, 15 attack UAVs managed to strike targets across 10 different locations, indicating that some of the incoming ordnance penetrated the defensive screen.
Scope of the Assault
The drone launches originated from multiple regions, including:
- Kursk
- Oryol
- Bryansk
- Shatalove
- Temporarily occupied Donetsk
In a separate but related action, Russian forces also conducted 754 strikes on settlements in the Zaporizhzhia region, highlighting the intensity and broad geographic scope of the offensive.
This assault is part of the ongoing military conflict between Russia and Ukraine, which began with Russia's annexation of Crimea in 2014 and escalated into a full-scale invasion in 2022. The increasing frequency and scale of missile and drone attacks represent a significant escalation, posing a grave threat to Ukrainian civilian safety and critical infrastructure.
