Russia Launches Nighttime Drone Assault on Ukraine, Striking Sumy Region and Shelling Druzhkivka.
Ukraine Under Attack: February 4, 2026
According to TSN.ua: In a nighttime assault on February 4, 2026, Russian forces targeted Ukraine with drones, carrying out a massive bombardment of Druzhkivka in the Donetsk region and launching strikes on the Sumy region. The attack on Druzhkivka damaged a local market, indicating significant destruction from the assault. These drone strikes are part of a sustained campaign targeting both military and civilian infrastructure.
Russian drones also launched attacks from the Sumy region towards the Chernihiv and Kyiv regions. Several groups of attack UAVs were detected in northern Cherkasy, raising the threat level. The threat of ballistic missile strikes from the south and eastern directions was also noted. As a result of the attacks in the Konotop district, power outages occurred.
Military Escalation
These events point to an escalation of military action by Russia, which continues to threaten the security of Ukrainian cities and civilian populations. The mass drone attacks, particularly on civilian objects, suggest a shift in the aggressor's tactics and a potential intensification of the conflict in the region. This pattern of strikes deep inside Ukraine aims to cripple energy and logistical networks.
Amid the growing threat, Ukraine must implement additional measures to protect its territories and population.
