Massive Blaze Erupts After Ukrainian Intelligence Strikes Russian Oil Terminal.
Ukraine’s Security Service Executes a Targeted Raid
According to Novyny.live: Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU), in coordination with the Main Intelligence Directorate (HUR) and the Special Operations Forces, carried out a mission that struck the ‘Tamanneftegaz’ oil and gas terminal in Russia’s Krasnodar region. The operation was designed to damage infrastructure that fuels Russia’s military aggression by cutting off revenue streams.
Long-range drones hit five petroleum product storage tanks within the facility’s reservoir park, along with two loading racks, sparking a large-scale fire at the site. Reports also confirm that the attack targeted positions of Russian air defense systems, further boosting the overall effectiveness of the mission.
How Russia’s Oil and Gas Sector Fuels Its War Machine
Nearby, the Afipsky oil refinery processes up to 6.25 million tons of crude annually. This highlights the massive role the oil and gas sector plays in Russia’s economy and underscores why such strikes are critical to depriving the country of petrodollars used to fund its military campaigns. The operation is part of Ukraine’s broader effort to weaken the aggressor’s resource base and safeguard its own national interests.
This mission reflects Ukraine’s strategic approach to the conflict, focused on dismantling enemy critical infrastructure that directly supports combat operations. Because Russia’s oil and gas industry is so central to its economy, these strikes impose significant economic pressure, potentially limiting Moscow’s ability to sustain its war effort. Similar actions are expected to continue as part of Ukraine’s defense and territorial liberation strategy.
