Ukrainian Special Operations Destroy Five Oil Tanks at Tamanneftegas Terminal.
Operation by Ukraine's Special Operations Forces
According to UATV: In a coordinated nighttime strike, Ukraine's Special Operations Forces (SSO), together with the 'Alpha' special operations unit of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) and the Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR), attacked the Tamanneftegas terminal in Russia's Krasnodar Krai. The assault destroyed five petroleum product reservoirs and two loading racks at the facility.
The attack also triggered fires near warehouse infrastructure and a truck parking area. 'Five oil product tanks and two loading stations were hit. Fires were also observed near the warehouse and cargo vehicle parking zones. The enemy's air defense systems protecting the site were also targeted,' the report stated.
Strategic Importance of the Tamanneftegas Terminal
As the largest liquefied hydrocarbon transshipment hub in southern Russia, the Tamanneftegas terminal plays a critical role in regional energy logistics. This incident was part of a broader Ukrainian operation on the night of June 12, 2023, which also struck the TANECO refinery in Tatarstan and other targets.
The attack highlights Ukraine's intensifying military campaign against Russian energy infrastructure in response to ongoing aggression. By hitting key facilities, Ukraine aims to disrupt fuel supplies and weaken Russia's economic and logistical capacity, potentially creating long-term ripple effects across the conflict. These strikes underscore a deliberate strategy to degrade the adversary's operational capabilities and reduce its ability to sustain military efforts.
