Russia is preparing a land corridor to Kaliningrad: Threat of conflict with NATO in 2026

According to ТСН: The Russian Federation is considering the possibility of creating a land corridor between Poland and Lithuania, which could lead to a confrontation with NATO in 2026. Experts believe that the Kremlin could use the fabricated 'blockade' of the Kaliningrad region as a pretext for aggression.

International security expert Taras Zhovtenko noted that NATO has detailed information about Moscow's intentions.

'NATO knows how the Russians are preparing. And they know how many there will be, where they will be, and what they will be there for. This was a public hint: Their plans are not as secret as you think. Most likely it will be towards Kaliningrad. The Russians will try to break through a land corridor at the border between Poland and Lithuania without actually settling in these countries, but just setting up control posts there,' the expert noted.

According to Zhovtenko, the main argument of the Russian Federation will be the 'protection' of Kaliningrad. Russian propaganda is already actively shaping the foundation for this move, and Vladimir Putin recently indicated that a possible blockade of the region could lead to the 'beginning of a major war' in Europe.

'They will then just release Lukashenko again. He will show his 'four directions from which the blockade of the Kaliningrad region was being prepared, and if no preemptive strike had been carried out, this blockade would have taken place. This means that most likely it will indeed be towards Kaliningrad,' the expert noted.

In conclusion, the researcher emphasizes that NATO signals clearly to the Kremlin: The number of military forces and possible operational directions are already known, which should serve as a deterrent factor for Russia.

Moreover, the situation with Russian attacks on Ukraine during the Christmas festivities shows that the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, has no intention of seeking peace and cannot be trusted.

A peace plan is also being considered in Moscow, which was conveyed by Putin's special envoy, Kirill Dmitriev. The next steps depend on the decision of the President of Russia.

The unfolding military activities around the Kaliningrad region could become a central theme of international relations in the coming years. It is important to monitor developments, as any escalatory decision by the Kremlin will create new challenges for European security and international stability.
