The enemy is trying to break through to Zaporizhzhia through the bottom of the former reservoir.
According to ТСН: The Russian occupation forces continue to try to get closer to the outskirts of Zaporizhzhia. They have already made several attempts to reach the village of Malokaterynivka, which is a southern suburb of the regional center.
This was reported by the spokesperson of the Southern Defense Forces, Vladyslav Voloshyn. According to the analytical portal DeepState, the so-called 'gray zone' has already approached Malokaterynivka. The spokesperson confirmed that the situation is complicated, although 'there is still a certain distance to the enemy.'
Tactics of the Occupants
The occupiers are exploiting the environmental disaster to their advantage. After the destruction of the Kakhovka reservoir, new opportunities for their troop movements have emerged.
'Mostly there are dacha estates and there is no large-scale construction. The enemy's infiltration groups are trying to enter and advance as far as possible, taking advantage of the fact that the Kakhovka reservoir no longer exists and they can move 'on the bottom.'— explained Voloshyn.
The military noted that some groups attempted to pass through the bottom of the former reservoir, cross the Konka River, and enter the village from the east.
Counteraction by Ukrainian Forces
Ukrainian defenders are actively countering the new tactics of the Russians, and several combat clashes have already been documented during attempts to break through.
'We are conducting reconnaissance-search and search-strike operations, destroying such groups,'— assured Voloshyn.
Active fighting is also ongoing in the settlement of Plavni and in Prymorskyi. The latter is what the occupiers are trying to take under full control in order to use it as a foothold for accumulating assault groups.
In addition to ground attacks, Malokaterynivka suffers from aerial reconnaissance and strikes. This is practically already a frontline settlement, under which a significant number of Russian drones constantly circle.
General Situation
The main task of the Russians in this direction remains unchanged—to get as close as possible to the outskirts of Zaporizhzhia and establish themselves at new lines.
It should be noted that part of the city of Huliaipole in Zaporizhzhia Oblast is under the control of the Russian army. The Russians have a significant advantage in manpower and weaponry, but the city is still under the control of Ukrainian forces. The Defense Forces continue to hold the defense, although the enemy is trying to push them out of their positions, despite significant losses.
This situation underscores the tension at the front and the resilience of the Ukrainian military, who, despite difficult conditions, continue to fight for control of their territories. In the conditions of active combat operations, every day can be decisive for the further development of the conflict.
