Ukrainian Commander: Russia Lacks Manpower to Seize Donetsk Region.
Statement from the Commander of the 7th Rapid Reaction Corps
According to TSN.ua: Yevhen Lasiichuk, commander of the 7th Rapid Reaction Corps of the Ukrainian Air Assault Forces, stated that a full Russian takeover of the unoccupied part of Donetsk Oblast would be an exceptionally difficult task. He identified a shortage of human resources in Russia as the primary reason for this assessment.
Lasiichuk noted that the Russian 'infiltration' tactic requires a continuous flow of personnel to be effective. He stressed that for further advancement using this method, Russia needs a large number of soldiers, a resource it currently lacks, which complicates its ability to capture more territory.
The Situation in Donbas
Meanwhile, Ukrainian defense forces in Donbas continue to execute their missions. They recently cleared the village of Sukhetske, which is part of the Myrnohrad community in the Pokrovsk district. This action demonstrates the active operations of Ukrainian forces in the region and their capacity to counter aggression. The situation in Donetsk Oblast remains challenging, but the Ukrainian side maintains its defensive efforts.
The commander's statements highlight that military actions in Donbas remain a focal point, partly due to the difficulties Russia faces in providing necessary military resources. Successful Ukrainian operations, like the clearing of Sukhetske, showcase their ability for active resistance and resilience in the conflict. These factors could significantly influence the future course of the situation in the region and shape the strategies of both sides moving forward. The Donbas region has been a central battleground since 2014, with its industrial and symbolic importance making it a key objective for Russia's invasion.
