Russia plans to recruit up to 450 thousand people into the army: how the Kremlin recruits conscripts

According to ТСН: According to Ukrainian intelligence, last year the Kremlin planned to increase its occupation army to 400 thousand people, and they managed to achieve this figure. This year, even more reinforcements are expected.

Expert Opinion

A military analyst from the 'Militarnyi' portal suggested that up to 430 or 450 thousand people could join the army. According to him, Kremlin officials are unlikely to announce a new mobilization, but will rather try to recruit new conscripts through alternative methods.

‘They are moving very comprehensively on this issue. This includes financial motivation, i.e., attracting contractors. We also see that the practice of involving prisoners has expanded. We can currently state that it is not only about prisoners, but also those who are under investigation. This is a real chance for them to gain freedom by signing a contract with the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation,’ he noted.

Recruiting Mercenaries

The expert also believes that the Russian army will continue to actively recruit mercenaries from other countries.

‘First of all, it concerns countries in Africa, as well as the Southeast Asian region,’ added Vadim Kushnikov.

We remind you that dozens of South African citizens without military experience ended up on the front lines of Russia's war against Ukraine, as they were lured by promises of training and jobs as guards, and later forced to sign contracts with the Russian army.

Data indicates that the Kremlin does not stop its attempts to replenish army ranks in various ways, even using criminal elements. Such methods can significantly affect the nature of the conflict and the strategy of conducting hostilities. The situation leaves many questions regarding the further development of events in Ukraine and the region as a whole.
