Russian Strategic Offensive Fails, Says Ukrainian General Malomuzh.
General Mykola Malomuzh's Assessment of the Frontline Situation
According to UATV: Ukrainian Army General Mykola Malomuzh has stated that Russia is waging an information campaign, claiming a strategic offensive, while the actual situation on the battlefield is starkly different. He emphasized the lack of tangible results for Russia and the spread of disinformation in the media space.
On February 22, 2023, Mykola Malomuzh, who headed Ukraine's Foreign Intelligence Service from 2005 to 2010, commented on the situation in Ukraine. He stated,
"Putin tried to use as his main argument that he is attacking along the entire front. And this is a failure,"he noted. He stressed that on paper or in illusions, it may appear the offensive is progressing, but in reality,
"the entire strategy is failing."
The Frontline Situation and Actions of Ukraine's Defense Forces
The General also noted that Russia currently lacks the potential for strategic offensive operations, highlighting significant problems in its military strategy.
"This is why the negotiation teams meeting in Geneva or Abu Dhabi are silent. They know the real situation,"Malomuzh added.
Meanwhile, Ukraine's defense forces continue to perform their duties effectively. In particular, they repelled attacks in the areas of Kalynivske and Terrove in the Dnipropetrovsk region, demonstrating their capability to withstand aggression. These battlefield realities confirm Malomuzh's assertion that Russian claims of success are merely disinformation.
Amidst active combat, the information war remains a crucial component of the conflict between Ukraine and Russia. Statements from Ukrainian military experts like Mykola Malomuzh underscore the need to critically assess information coming from the front. The situation remains dynamic, and its future course could significantly impact the strategies of both sides, as well as the international negotiation process. General Malomuzh's analysis provides a counter-narrative to Moscow's official claims, reflecting the intense battle for perception alongside the physical fighting.
