According to inkorr.com: Russia continues to actively disrupt the normal functioning of GPS signals in the Baltic Sea, causing significant concern among European countries. According to information from the Swedish Transport Agency Transportstyrelsen, the number of jamming incidents has significantly increased.

Increase in jamming incidents

The European Commission also notes a troubling trend: in 2025, 13 EU member states reported an increase in jamming and spoofing of GPS signals. The Estonian regulator reports that 85% of flights in the country are facing difficulties in navigation.

'Russia's systematic interference with the operation of GPS is a serious threat to civilian passenger flights and international security. These so-called hybrid attacks reflect Russia's overall strategy to undermine the resilience of Europe and attempt to diminish support for Ukraine by intimidating the population.'

Looking for solutions

The situation with the jamming of GPS signals in the Baltic Sea is becoming increasingly critical, prompting countries to work more actively on improving cybersecurity measures. International experts and governments are seeking common solutions to prevent further interference and threats to international security.

This problem signifies new challenges faced by European countries in the field of security. Increased Russian activity in this direction forces EU countries to strengthen coordination and implement innovative solutions to protect strategic infrastructure.
