Odesa Region Under Fire: Hospital Hit and Overnight Drone Attacks
According to Novyny.live: Russian forces continue their strikes on Odesa Oblast, targeting civilian infrastructure. On June 1, a hospital came under fire, sustaining damage to its buildings but no casualties were reported. The maternity ward and administrative sections were hit, and at the time of the attack, six women who had recently given birth were inside with their newborns.
On the evening of May 31 and into the night of June 1, Russian troops launched two waves of drone attacks on the Odesa district. These assaults caused damage to:
- a multi-story residential building,
- two single-story apartment buildings,
- two private homes,
- at least seven vehicles.
Earlier, on May 25, a missile strike in Odesa damaged residential buildings and an educational facility, according to Oleh Kiper, head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration, as reported by Novyny.LIVE. The situation in the region remains tense, and ongoing strikes on civilian sites continue to alarm local residents.
These recent events in Odesa Oblast underscore the grave danger facing civilians amid the war. The hospital attack highlights the risks to medical facilities, which should remain protected during conflict. The repeated drone strikes also point to an escalation of violence, posing serious threats to the lives and well-being of local people. In this context, it is crucial for the international community to address the humanitarian toll of the conflict and support affected areas.
