Strike on energy and rescuers

On August 26, Russian occupiers launched a new strike on Ukrainian energy infrastructure. As a result of a missile attack at one of the mines in Donetsk, one worker was killed, and three were injured, as reported by the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine. The fire and rescue service in Konstantinivka was also affected, as noted by the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SES).

Consequences of the attack on the mines

According to the Ministry of Energy, the Russian shelling led to the power outage of substations that supplied electricity to local mines, causing 148 miners to be trapped underground.

“Thanks to the quick and coordinated work of energy workers and rescuers, all trapped miners were brought to the surface. So far, the lives and health of the miners are not in danger,” the Ministry of Energy stated.

Attack on the fire and rescue unit

The State Emergency Service confirmed the fact of an attack on the fire and rescue unit in Konstantinivka.

“The garage doors and slate roof were damaged, windows were shattered, and protective plates on them were destroyed; four doors were also damaged. A fire truck was also damaged,” the SES reported.

Aerial strike on Konstantinivka

Recall that on August 25, Russian forces carried out an airstrike on Konstantinivka, using five aerial bombs with a unified planning and correction module.

This series of attacks underscores the continuation of Russia's aggression against Ukraine and significantly impacts energy security in the region. By maintaining tension in these areas and attacking critical infrastructure, the occupiers aim to exacerbate the crisis and destabilize the situation in Ukraine. The situation remains difficult, yet emergency services continue their work to ensure public safety and restore stability.
